In a heartfelt display of collective community support, learners from across 11 primary schools in Namaqualand recently received a much-needed boost for the new school year through a back-to-school initiative. Held earlier this month, this initiative ensured that more than 100 young learners in need are equipped with essential backpacks and stationery, paving the way for a successful year ahead.

As the 2024 school year begins, Jeandre Plaatjies from Humansdorp and Muhammed Davids from the Patensie community are embarking on their journey to realize their passion for a future career in agriculture. Supported by a dedicated local agricultural bursary programme, they are commencing Grade 8 at Marlow Agricultural High School in Cradock, located approximately 1.5 hours from their home towns.

The Seriti Community Trust today handed over 10 vehicles to the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. The vehicles are fully branded and furbished with the necessary equipment including radios, cameras, sirens, health and safety equipment as well as service plans and warranties at a cost of R6.5 million.

For the first time since opening their doors some 67 years ago, Uitvlug Primary School, a small farm school, in Swellendam, Western Cape, was able to offer a Grade 7 class this year. Moreover, it has been announced that a further expansion, will mean that the 2024 academic year will kick-off with its first Grade R class.
