Women In Digital Business Programme Empowers Local Entrepreneurs In Noupoort
A digital training programme, aimed at equipping local women in Noupoort with the skills, confidence, and support needed to grow their business, was held recently. Hosted locally, the programme addressed the growing need for women-owned businesses to effectively utilise various platforms, thereby empowering these entrepreneurs by providing them with vital skills for digital business operations.
Funded by Noupoort Wind Farm in partnership with Business E-Zone, the Women in Digital Business programme provided participants with hands-on development in areas like coding and project management, and access to valuable networks.
“This initiative is about more than just digital skills; it’s about empowerment. By providing mentorship, networks, and confidence-building opportunities, we are equipping women not only to run stronger businesses, but also to step into leadership roles and inspire others in the community,” said Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Noupoort Wind Farm.
Over the course of four days, 15 participants received hands-on training in areas such as building online stores, developing e-commerce strategies, enhancing business processes with digital tools, and strengthening their online presence. The training also included one-on-one mentorship with experienced professionals, as well as peer-to-peer learning, ensuring that participants received both personalised guidance and collective support.
“This programme has been a game-changer for my business! I’ve learned a great deal about digital marketing and how to utilise social media to attract new customers. I’m excited to grow my business using these new skills,” expressed Isisipho Mcopele, a programme participant.
The training concluded with a certification ceremony held on 10 September 2025 at the Noxolo Eunice Mpinda Library to celebrate the women who completed the training and mark the beginning of their journeys as emerging digital leaders in the community.
