Wind Farms and Municipality Rally Together to Aid Loeriesfontein's Water Crisis
In a heartening display of community spirit, the local wind farms and the municipality have rallied together to offer relief and financial assistance to the Loeriesfontein local community, who are feeling the effects of a water crisis, caused by heavy rainfall that resulted in damaged water pipes.
To aid the community, the local municipality has arranged for water to be transported between Loeriesfontein and Nieuwoudtville with the help of Brandvlei Vervoerdepot, a local transportation service provider. It is reported that the transportation of water, which commenced on Thursday, 30 March 2023, will continue through until Sunday, 02 April 2023. "We are happy to be able to provide assistance in any way we can. We hope that our support will help ease the burden of the community during this crisis,” said Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Khobab Wind Farm. Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms have provided financial support to the project. The wind farms are committed to supporting the local community and will continue to monitor the situation to determine any further assistance that may be needed.
