Top achievers at Loeriesfontein Primary School receive learning devices

Tablets were donated to the highest-achieving grade 7 learners at Loeriesfontein Primary School, aiming to motivate academic excellence. The tablets, made possible through the support of the Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms, were handed-over to the deserving learners during the school's graduation ceremony on 9 November 2023.

The ceremony served as a tribute to the unwavering commitment and diligence displayed by Grade 7 learners and teachers throughout the academic year. Recognition was also bestowed on other learners in the form of certificates, acknowledging outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and various other categories.

"By recognising the hard work of these learners, we aim to inspire them to continue striving for excellence, as well as serve as role-models to their peers These tablets provide a valuable digital tool for research, assessments, and online learning programmes, such as the mathematics programme designed to improve academic performance," stated Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms.

While the aim is to foster educational excellence and technology literacy amongst learners, it is hoped that this gesture will inspire the recipients to continue to strive for academic excellence as they proceed into their high school careers next year.

“We live in a world that is very technologically driven. The tablets are a great gift because now learners have the advantage of having 24/7 access to learning. It also teaches them to be more ‘tech savvy’ and increases their interactivity,” said Letachia Swart, Grade 7 teacher at Loeriesfontein Primary.
