Outstanding Tuition Fees Settled Ensuring Continued Studies For Makhanda Students
Ten Rhodes University students are entering their 2026 academic year with renewed confidence after receiving financial support from NOA Group’s Wind Garden wind energy facility in the settlement of their 2025 outstanding tuition debt, removing a key barrier to their academic progression.
“Education and skills development are central to sustainable progress. By supporting students to complete their studies, we are helping to build a foundation for inclusive growth and lasting positive impact.” shared Angela Harrison, Socio Economic Development Manager at Wind Garden, wholly owned by NOA Group.
The bursary top-up assistance cleared the outstanding 2025 tuition fees for six female and four male students who were experiencing financial pressure. The ten beneficiary students are pursuing studies across a range of academic disciplines, including Social Science, Law, Pharmacy and Arts.
As reported by StudyTrust, the programme’s implementation partner, this funding has significantly influenced the academic journeys of the ten students, providing them with greater certainty and the opportunity to pursue their studies with confidence.
Lisakhanya Tetani, a beneficiary of the initiative and a Bachelor of Science student who had faced the prospect of not being able to continue her studies, shared, “Receiving this bursary has been life changing. As a student facing financial exclusion, the support lifted a significant burden off my shoulders and allowed me to focus fully on my academic studies. I’m proud to have earned an academic certificate and ranked among the top 10 in my residence. With my debt settled, I can now complete my final year in 2026 focused and determined to achieve my goals. I’m deeply grateful for this investment in my future.”
Building on the momentum of this support, the Wind Garden Bursary Programme is set to expand this year, with further details to be announced in the coming months.
