Noupoort Wind Farm’s Project Officer Receives Prestigious Community Award
Salzonia Jordaan, Project Officer at Noupoort Wind Farm, has been honoured with the South African Wind Energy Association’s (SAWEA) ‘Raising Communities Award’ on behalf of the wind farm’s economic development team. This award recognises the wind farm’s significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the Noupoort community.
The award celebrates wind farms that have demonstrated sustainable social upliftment, enhancing the quality of life and economic wellbeing of local communities.
Noupoort Wind Farm’s development programme was acknowledged for its outstanding impact, particularly in comparison to other wind farms across the country.
“It is an honour to receive this recognition, and we are deeply grateful to the people of Noupoort, who have partnered with us since July 2016. Together, we are working to build a stronger, more resilient community for future generations,” said Jordaan.
The award’s criteria included social benefits such as the wind farm’s scholarship programme, education initiatives, sports development, and support for local entrepreneurs and SMMEs. Special consideration was given to the number of women, young people, and people with disabilities who have benefited from these programmes.
