Loeriesfontein Sanitation Upgrade Promotes a Cleaner, Healthier Community

A vital upgrade to a section of the sanitation network in Loeriesfontein, located within the Hantam Municipal area, has been successfully completed, with the objective of improving the lives of local residents. The Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms, in partnership with the Hantam Municipality and UDS Africa Professional services provider and project managers, launched this initiative to enhance the town’s essential sanitation infrastructure by installing a modern waterborne sewage system for 23 households.

“Our collaboration with the local municipality has is an essential part of our long-term commitment to improving the livelihoods of Loeriesfontein residents,” stated Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms.

The project's first phase, completed earlier this year, replaced outdated drainage (and eventually pit latrines) with a sustainable sewage system, benefiting 23 households. Seven local community members were employed during this phase, supporting meaningful job creation. This boost in employment aligns with the broader goal of supporting local economic growth and empowering community members through meaningful work opportunities.
