Health Awareness Event Sheds Light On Pregnancy Risks
A health awareness event focused on the vital importance of understanding pregnancy-related risks took place at the Loeriesfontein Hub late last year. This initiative, a collaboration between the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA), the South African Police Service (SAPS), and the Department of Health, aimed to equip individuals with essential information for making informed decisions, promoting safer pregnancies and healthier outcomes for mothers and children.
"The essence of this event was to inspire behavioural changes, while deepening understanding of the journey from pregnancy to the birth of a precious child. It's about fostering a connection between parent and baby, equipping mothers with knowledge and confidence to embrace long-term lifestyle improvements. Taking part in such initiatives is crucial for societal progress and enhancing awareness," stated Sgt Liebchen Lombard of Loeriesfontein SAPS.
Informative sessions and discussions facilitated by SANCA on the early detection of pregnancy danger signs and substance abuse among expecting mothers, were featured. The programme targeted pregnant women from the community, with fourteen attendees actively participating in the event.
Furthermore, infant and baby care packs, funded by Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms, were distributed to the attendees.
"This initiative underscores the significance of community involvement in tackling key health challenges. We are honoured to contribute to this programme, raising awareness about pregnancy-related risks and offering crucial support to expectant mothers in Loeriesfontein," said Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms.
