Boshof Solar Power Celebrates Local Talent Through Internship Programme

Globeleq South Africa Management Services (GSAMS) has announced the release of a documentary highlighting the impact of its internship programme at Boshof Solar Power in the Free State. The video tells the story of intern, Nketa Leteane and her mentor Jacob Mbiza, as well as featuring insights from Managing Director, Dhesen Moodley.

"This internship has given me the skills and knowledge to advance my career. The support from my manager and seniors has been incredible—they’ve guided me every step of the way. I’ve learned so much and feel ready to take on the future in renewable energy," said Nketa Leteane, Intern at Boshof Solar Power.

Jacob Mbiza, Site Manager at Boshof Solar Power, shares a similar sentiment in the video, where he expresses the importance of the programme in the industry and local communities, saying, “With Nketa, it’s been an incredible journey. She started with theoretical knowledge, and we've turned that into real-world experience. At first, interns are nervous and afraid to make mistakes, but we guide them through it. Watching her grow confident and capable has been rewarding—now she can run things on her own. The GSAMS internship programme isn’t just about skills; it’s about shaping future leaders and transforming communities."

Since its inception in 2015, the programme has invested over R23 million in developing skilled professionals for the renewable energy sector.

Speaking on the programme’s role in the future of renewable energy in South Africa, Dhesen Moodley, Managing Director of Globeleq South Africa Management Services, said, "If you look at the expectation for South Africa and our energy policy, and about all the renewable energy investment that's going to happen, which is over a trillion rand, the amount of human capital that's going to be needed to deliver that target is going to be incredible. So we think that the internship programme, which remains the flagship programme in the industry, has established a good template for industry to follow."

The full documentary is available on both the Boshof Solar Power and Globeleq South Africa Management Services websites, with social media reels highlighting key moments to be shared across LinkedIn and Facebook.
