Business Description: G7 Renewable Energies, a South African company based in Cape Town and founded 2008, develops highly competitive grid connected wind farms in South Africa. We use our outstanding skills and experience, in-depth knowledge of the country’s wind resources (SA Mesoscale Wind Atlas from its Director Dr Kilian Hagemann) as well as legal, social, technical and environmental expertise to bring our portfolio of projects commercial fruition. In the process we take care of all the necessary stepping stones – identifying new sites, securing land rights, liaising with local communities, conducting high quality wind measurements, obtaining all required permits and sourcing necessary licenses in order to enable each project to reach financial close and generate sustainable revenues for 20-25 years. G7 has actively contributed through its Director Nicolas Rolland to the strong build-up of SAWEA from 2009 to 2011 with the launch of Windaba, the industry’s premier annual conference. G7 remains strongly supportive of the SAWEA’s efforts through its involvement in various working groups.
