Local Hub Helps Community Members Access Government Services With Ease
To address the needs of the Loeriesfontein community, the Loeriesfontein Hub opened its doors to SASSA, enabling them to offer assistance to more than 500 community members, within five days. As a result of this assistance, the Hub has become a busy and productive space for the community, providing a valuable service to residents despite power outages.
Previously, sector departments assisted community members at the sports hall during their visits to Loeriesfontein. However, due to frequent power outages and poor signal availability, it became more challenging to offer adequate services to the community. "We are thrilled to see the positive impact that the Loeriesfontein Hub is having in the community. Community members were able to receive assistance without concern for power outages that hindered their ability to receive assistance from government departments before,” said Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms, which funds the Hub.
This support was in response to the initiative of two elected community leaders, Johanna Koose and Kevin Theys. Note* The Loeriesfontein Business Hub supports entrepreneurs, small business owners and the broader Loeriesfontein community, including school learners, by offering business registrations, SARS compliance, printing, internet & computer access and administrative support. The future plan is to broaden the service offering by accommodating government departments to offer services to the community.
