How It Works
HeyMath! innovatively uses ICT to bring world class educational practices from the University of Cambridge and the Singaporean education system to educators and learners in South African schools in the following ways:
HeyMath! assists educators to teach mathematics by explaining maths & physical science concepts visually and linking them to daily life in South Africa. This helps learners overcome the fear of the subjects, improves their confidence and instils a “Yes, I can!” attitude when it comes to high-stakes exams. In short, the key objectives of the programme are to:
1. Deepen Educator capacity and content knowledge in mathematics and physical science – as it impacts learner performance more than any other variable
2. Increase the number of learners who leave school equipped to continue higher studies or to seek gainful vocational employment
3. Ensure equality of access by delivering quality mathematics and physical science education, by bringing proven, world-class educational resources within easy reach of all communities
