Business Description: The Southern African Liaison Office (SALO) is a South African (SA)-based civic society organization which contributes to building peace and security through facilitating dialogue and consensus between national, regional and international actors. SALO has a regional focus, predominantly on Southern Africa, especially Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Eswatini, but owing to the inter-connectedness of complex regional work, SALO’s systemic work extended to, and influenced agendas, in SADC, specifically DRC, Lesotho, Malawi and Madagascar. Specifically, SALO has a documented successful, extensive track record in influencing SA’s foreign policy on Zimbabwe. SALO is a catalyst for strategic engagements, alignment and consensus-building between African governments and civil society stakeholders, with global partners, on critical areas of democracy, peace and security. SALO contributes to African-driven policy positions for countries in crisis and conflict through advocacy, dialogue, research and knowledge resourcing. It amplifies the voices of regional civil society for them to facilitate engagements with Southern African-based policymakers.
