NOUPOORT ELDERLY COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE PRIORITISED FOR MANDELA DAY
18 July 2021
Noupoort Wind Farm’s commitment and celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy this Mandela Day, saw almost 700 elderly community residents being transported safely to the central vaccination station, situated at the local Community Health Centre, over 10 days. This was arranged in response to a request from the Umsobomvu Local Municipality.
“Our elderly remain some of the most vulnerable community members and therefore most in need of protection and the CV-19 vaccination, which is now available in Noupoort,” said Noupoort Economic Development Manager, Sandisiwe Mntonintshi.
She continued saying, “This is very different to previous community programmes, but considering that this year’s Mandela Day commemoration is happening amidst the rampant CV-19’s third wave, it is befitting that we should prioritise our elderly community members by supporting their health and safety.”
The pick-up and drop off spots were pre-arranged and offered both easy and safe access for the elderly.
