COMMUNITY MEMBERS ENCOURAGED TO VISIT PINKDRIVE

Loeriesfontein, Northern Cape

In recognition of Cancer Awareness Month, a two-day health drive focused on screening, early detection, and health education for Loeriesfontein community members will take place, on 5 and 6 September 2022.

Funded by Khobab Wind Farm and Loeriesfontein Wind Farm, in collaboration with PinkDrive and the Department of Health, a full range of early detection and preventative health screening services will be offered to the community.

The services include 50 mammograms for women over the age of 40; 100 pap smears for women of all ages who are sexually active; 120 prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests for prostate cancer for men over the age of 40; and education on breast, cervical, prostate, and testicular cancers.

Community members are encouraged to visit the PinkDrive, as early detection and screening can potentially save a life.

“It is especially important that men in the community participate in the PSA screenings, which are an important part of the early detection of prostate cancer,” said Vanessa Fredericks, Economic Development Manager for Khobab and Loeriesfontein Wind Farms.
