Chair Voice – 2022 Year Ahead

Dear Members,

I would like to welcome you all to yet another exciting wind energy year. We have much to celebrate and look forward to with the anticipated BW6, expected to be announced during Febuary as well as BW5 financial closure scheduled for April.

Niveshen Govender, SAWEA CEO

As you may already be aware, this acceralated period of procurement and growth will be overseen by our newly appointed CEO, Niveshen Govender. He brings along 12 years of experience in our country’s Green Economy environment.  His diverse experience ranges from carbon management and climate change, to flagship energy project implementation as well as formulating and applying energy policy.

You’ll probably know him from his most recent position as COO at SAPVIA, where he certainly demonstrated his passion for renewable energy and showcased his tireless dedication to advocate on behalf of members through engagement with government on various levels.

Please join myself and fellow board members in welcoming Niveshen as he takes up this leadership role in the renewable energy sector. We look forward to working with him as we continue to drive our industry’s ambitious vision, as we commence a new chapter of SAWEA’s history.
